Received Sept 16 Dr Crokes/Kerry  tradition lives on. In 1903 When Kerry won the 1st  of their 36 ( to date ) All Irelands, there were 7 of our club players on that historic team and 4 others had played along the way to the final. In that 1903 team  was Dick Fitzgerald, winner of 5 All Irelands . He captained Kerry to victory in 1913 and in 1914. On Sunday Colm bids for his 5th All Ireland and captains the team.

What an achievement by Dr Crokes. Joining Colm on Sunday are Eoin Kieran, Johnny and Dáithí. Good luck to all 5.

Received Oct. 20 Just wanted to congratulate everyone involved in the county final victory last Sunday. For a club that was so good to me and left me with nothing but great memories, It was fantastic to see the great Dr. Crokes GAA Club finally get the victory they so richly deserved. It's also a credit to everyone involved to have kept going after the bitter disappointments of the last couple of years and show that pure effort, hard work, and determination does pay off. I hope ye are all in great form there and enjoying the celebrations. Roll on the next

game(s) and let's all hope that maybe,  just maybe, we might see Croke Park in March 2011.   Best Regards,   Aaron Fahy.

From the Officers of East Kerry

Received Oct. 17 Firstly congrats on today's great victory - maybe the first stop to Croke Park on St Patrick's day ?

A long way to go I know ! I had intended to watch the match but ended up going to our county hurling final.

You may not remember but myself and the kids called in to see ye one evening when on holidays in early August.
The kids were in search of The Gooch but he was only after losing to Down so was probably given the week off.
Anyway, we stayed on for senior training as I am always interested in watching other clubs particularly in the kingdom !
Got chatting to an uncle of Pat O'Shea's (Paddy O'Shea ?) who kindly showed me around your facilities which was great.
I am involved on the development side of things here and we have just built a new 500 seater stand with changing rooms underneath.
So it is always interesting to compare notes with other clubs.
I am also involved in our online lotto and website - www.thedownsgaa.com and we hope to give the site a lift over the winter.
That's the beauty of the GAA club family - no matter where you go we are all going in the one direction !

Anyway, pass on our congrats to Colm on the all star and county medal and well done to the entire club.
If ye are ever up this part of the country either on club or county duty give us a shout if there is anything we can do for you.
Unfortunately our seniors went out at the semi-final stage this year but it was a big improvement on last year.
Since our visit in August the kids declared that ye are our noo. 2 club now particularly as we share the same colours.

Best of luck in the Munster club and we will be keeping a look out for your results !

regards

Received 6th Nov 2008                                                                                                            Well the year is almost over and I just want to say that Crokes website is the best gaa website  in Ireland easily . Everyone involved deserves great credit for the amount of work they put in . The site was maintained and every week it was updated for the whole year . The underage reports were great a lot of club websites will only give a result and that's it and some of the bigger clubs don't even maintain their website which is bad for the supporters of that club . Crokes ,  excellent job .brendan.m.doyle@ge.com

Received 27th April 2004                                                                                                           Hi,I am writing to you from Adare Productions – We are the television company behind last year’s Underdogs – The TG4 GAA reality TV show. The series is back again this year and we will be holding trials throughout the country soon. Below is a press release which I hope you might print up and display on your notice board. We are contacting as many clubs throughout the country as we can to let them know that the show is back and the trials are on soon and we’d really appreciate if you could pass this information on to any of your members who you feel might be interested in applying. We want to give the opportunity to as many players as we can to come along and try out. All they have to do is apply on line at www.tg4.ie and hit the Underdogs link. This year Mícheál Ó Muirchearthaigh is joining the panel of selectors and we’ll be going up against his home county of Kerry. Mícheál, along with the two other selectors, Jarlath Burns (Armagh) & Mickey Ned O’Sullivan (Kerry), will be training the lads throughout the year. So, if you could pass on this info – mention it at a committee meeting - print up the press release below and display it in your club – or even chat about it to anyone who might want to apply, we’d greatly appreciate it. Any help we could get in spreading the word would be fantastic Brian Reddin Director Adare Productions Ltd.Tel: ++353 1 2843877adare@eircom.net  www.drcrokes.com/underdog.htm

Received 3rd January 2004                                                                                                          Happy New Year. Calling from your Tara Camogie Club, London.  Our Club has being in existence now since 1986 and apart from playing a competitive sport, comradeship is a major influence for joining our Club.

We are always on the look out for new players and supporters. We won the Junior League this year and were defeated in the Championship final and would like to build on this success and  possibly have two teams next year whilst also raising the profile of our game in London.
We want as many people as possible to know that we are in existence and wondered could you add our web link to your website? We have a very small, simply website, running if you would like to find out a bit more about our Club. Many thanks Sheila Fernandes www.camogie.co.uk

Received 20th June 2003

Several weeks ago I found myself in quest of information about Irish Football. To my surprise, I came upon an article in the "Kingdom" about Dr. Crokes honouring the 1903 Championship Team. In all honesty, it brought a tear to my eye. My grandfather Daniel McCarthy was a member of the 1903 and 1904 Championship Teams. I responded by e-mail and have since received correspondence from Eamonn Fitzgerald, Michael O'Sullivan. I have even received a letter from Mary McCarthy who is married to Patrick, a second cousin I have never had the pleasure of meeting. What a surprise to learn they still live in the house in which my grandfather was born. I have the 1903 and my brother has the 1904 medals. They are our proudest possessions. Our dream is to travel together to visit Kerry and watch some great football. I want to thank all who have responded. You have made my day!

Received 13th September 2002                                                                                          Hello and congrats to everybody associated with the website - it's absolutely brilliant. In fact, if it's this good already in its first year, I shudder to think what the future holds in store for us!!!! I make use of the website to keep up with club news and in particular to book tee times for the golf outings. I thoroughly enjoy coming down to Killarney and meeting up with all the "old faces" .I am always telling other golfers about the fantastic facility available to me i.e. I can see the date, time and venue for the next outing, send an e-mail to reserve a tee time and then check the website before I come down to see who my playing partners are and what time I'm on the tee. Fantastic !!! I'm sure a huge amount of time and energy goes into keeping the website updated - but it's worth it all. It's certainly a venture that should make everybody proud of the "Black and Amber" Happy 1st Birthday - enjoy the celebrations Denis Coleman. p.s. see you at the October golf outing dcoleman.ias@eircom.net

Received 24th April 2002                                                                                                           I would like to wish your club continued success with site and on the playing fields. I am  a
member of Kilmoyley hurling club and have followed the fortunes of the Crokes ever since
Fr Tom Looney was in Kilmoyley. He was here for several years and the Crokes were always top of his agenda. He still turns out to watch Kilmoyley hurling games and was praying for us in Lourdes on county hurling final day last September. I remember him speaking on Kerry radio about it. Certainly we needed all the prayers to end a 30 year
famine. I suppose Crokes would sympathise with us and long famines as I remember that Crokes ended a long run without success in the early 90s and went from strength to strength in football after that. We in Kilmoyley always enjoy our trips to Killarney, Kilgarvan and Kenmare for matches and always receive a great reception there. Sean O'Shea was an outstanding dual player from Crokes and hurled with Kerry for years. He is still hurling I believe. Football is yere number one game obviously but there is lot of people promoting hurling in Crokes and St Pats nowadays. I urge ye to continue doing so. My only concern would be that ye would get too good!!!! kerryman2@hotmail.com
